This week we are spotlighting Green Career Centre, an environmental sustainability organization based in Ontario, Canada. Its mission is to prepare youth, BIPOC, and newcomers for green careers.
They offer resources like a wage subsidy tool to find wage subsidies that youth and businesses can apply to for employment funding, CV and Resume templates, LinkedIn profile optimization guides, as well as a green jobs equity guide for employers guiding them on how to address the systemic issues that BIPOC and newcomers face when looking for green careers. They also have a group on LinkedIn called the Youth Green Jobs Network that shares daily green job listings for youth to apply to making it accessible and easy to find positions at non-profits and smaller organizations that aren't always widely shared.
Podcast recommendation: Establish by Shake Up The Establishment. They have amazing conversations with sustainability and climate justice leaders and provide resources and tools to hold our governments accountable for climate decisions and they also educate on how youth can get involved in the emerging green field.
